St. Rona used to be a popular tourist spot and has unique natural scenery. This all changed after a volcanic eruption which turned it into desolated ruins. However, it’s an ideal place for gatherers as it’s enriched with an abundance of resources. You can find them anywhere, be it in the forest, the salty wasteland, or the grotto.
Resource Level: 8 | Recommended Combat Level: 86 – 90
Areas on Map:
- Salty Wasteland | Recommended combat level 88: These are hot springs area where you can take a dip and relax or take out your fishing rod and do some fishing.
- Suburban Jungle | Recommended combat level 88: You can log, mine and gather hemps here. Beware of the pack of wolves roaming around the area.
- Abandoned Village | Recommended combat level 89: There are some abandoned houses where you can enter to retrieve chests left behind. Beware of the burning Infected that may be lurking inside those houses.
- St. Rona City | Recommended combat level 90: The buildings in this area are swallowed mid-way by the dried up lava from the erupted volcano. When the volcano erupts again, you don’t want to be on the ground. Be sure to climb up to the rooftop of those buildings as lava may come pouring all over the area.
- Mysterious Grotto | Recommended combat level 90: This cave is dangerous as there are flame monsters and burning infected. However, there are some amazing goodies (Tactical fenders) to be found inside the cave.

2. Monument: If you’re lucky, you can get here via zip lines constructed by other players. Otherwise, you’ll need to get here by foot and avoid those groups of Infected roaming around the area.

4. Abandoned Mine: If you move slowly by squatting, you can sneak up closer to the area to take the picture without engaging the flame monsters in the area. Trust me! You don’t want them throwing fireballs at you.
5. Ruins
6. Forest Water Tower: You don’t need to get too close as there are a few infected walking about. Stand by the rocks nearby and it should trigger a command to take a pic.

1. Precious Supplies: This is located on the 1st floor of the house. There’s a fat infected in this room. Take him out first. Don’t open the door to the balcony as there’s another infected lurking.
2. Silent Greatness: You’ll need to get rid of these infected to get the chest. If you come here solo, you either have to equip yourself with a really good flamethrower/ grenade launcher or forget about the chest as I did.

5. Sea Bay Star: I love underwater chest. Nobody is going to stop you from getting it.
6. Empty Settlement: This is located on the 1st floor of the house.

8. Fool’s Dock: It’s by the dock near the beach. It’s underwater but you don’t need to dive in to retrieve it as it’s quite shallow.

St. Rona’s Exploration Chests Pre-Season 3 Update
For our fellow survivors who haven’t gotten the Season 3 update, they may refer to the Exploration Chests for the old map here.
There are 8 exploration chests in St. Rona map. Apart from the volcano eruptions and flame monsters, this map is fairly easy to play. The chests are also easy to locate with the exception of the final two which you may run into slight difficulty in locating it.
1st Chest: Fool’s Dock
This is located underwater near the pier at the bottom centre of the map.
2nd Chest: Empty Settlement
There are 10 houses in the Abandoned Village map. It’s upstairs on the 2nd floor is one of the abandoned houses.
3rd Chest: Sea Bay Star
This chest is located underwater at the bottom left of the map. You’ll need to search for it around the area as the location may be random.
4th Chest: Silent Greatness
This chest is located at the ledge of the monument at the town area. Get onto one of the 4 platforms at its side. Use ammo box or barricade to gain better leverage to jump over to the center piece.
5th Chest: Broken Wall
Near the Suburban Jungle, you’ll find a ruin with broken walls. The chest is located on the broken wall.
6th Chest: Speed Challenge
This chest is located at the rocky areas at the hillside on the right of the map next to the lake. You’ll need to jump up the rocks to locate it.
7th Chest: Grotto Treasure
This is located either in the pool or on the broken wooden walkway in the cave of Mysterious Grotto. The cave is crawling with flame monsters and infected, be extra careful. You don’t need to engage with them, just hide and run from them.
8th Chest: Lava Ash
This is the toughest bit! You’ll need to get close to where the volcano erupts. It’s located on the roof of those sunken buildings. I can’t pinpoint the exact spot because it’s so random. It took me about 3 attempts of over 10-15 minutes each time going from one building to another to look for it. Be careful when the volcano erupts so you don’t fall into the hot lava.
