Mouth Swamp is primarily a complex terrain of swamps, jungles, and valleys. It’s also a huge map where you have to deal with infected gas and dangerous swamp creatures. Apart from food buff for movement speed, you practically don’t have any leverage to move to places fast enough.

Overview of the Map
- Infected Gas: The entire map is filled with infected gas when night falls. Your health will continue to decrease if you’re not sheltered from the toxic gas in the cabin so prepare enough antiseptic meds to keep your health up.
- Swallowed by Swamp: When you move over the swamp areas, make sure you keep jumping or you’ll get stuck in the swamps and will eventually be swallowed if you’re staying stationary.

Mouth Swamp’s Exploration Chests Pre-Season 3 Update
There are 8 exploration chests in the Mouth Swamp map. If you can’t find the chest, it could have been picked up by another player in which you need to wait a while for it to refresh. You don’t need to look for these chests in sequential order. I numbered them to make it easier for reference. You can look for the exploration chests anytime you want since it doesn’t affect the storyline.
1st Chest: Believer’s Guard
The chest is located at the Believer’s outpost on the far left of the map. Depending on where you’re coming from, you may find a ladder to climb up. Basically you’ll need to deal with 3 believers who will attack you. Kill them first and then locate the chest.
2nd Chest: The Legacy (Abandoned House)
There are abandoned houses near the helicopter tower in the middle of the map which is also next to the Stronghold Battle area. The chest is located in one of these abandoned houses.
3rd Chest: The Ashes After Disaster (Burned Down Area)
This area is easily spotted because you’ll see embers of the fire with burnt down houses. The chest is located at one of the houses.
4th Chest: The Hermit’s Gift (Waterfall)
There are two waterfalls next to each other. Go to the one on the far right of the map. You’ll spot an airplane at the crash site next to the waterfall. The chest is located behind the waterfall.
5th Chest: The Fisherman’s Legacy
The chest is located at a small shack among the abandoned houses in Black Spring Dock. The place is crowded with Infected so be careful. Try jumping on the rooftop of the houses to avoid them.
6th Chest: Evil Offering
This chest is located on the 1st floor of a house near Black Spring. In front of this house, there’s an altar where the Infected could be seen kneeling down, praying. You don’t need to engage them. Just go around to the back and jump over to the 1st floor from the upper ground to get the chest.
7th Chest: The Sunken Supplies (Underwater)
The chest is underwater in the river slightly after Secret Path. There are a few potential spots so you’ll need to swim along the river to locate it.
8th Chest: Devil’s Lure
This is located at the Old Boathouse which is crawling with life suckers. Engage them one by one and don’t trigger another to come after you. Look for the spot where you’ll see a bunch of wooden crates stacked up. The chest is on the crates.
