Fishing helps in gathering cooking ingredients. Apart from that, you may also get ornamental fishes where you can craft taxidermy as a collection or display in your aquarium.
Let’s Go Fishing!
Go to Hope 101’s Commercial Bureau building. On the left of the entrance, you’ll see the 5th Caravan Quest Board next to Rachel. Accept the Let’s Go Fishing task.
Head to Fall Forest and look for Vast at Minor Island 1. You can tap on your Quest column on your screen and tap on Track to find his exact location. Talk to him and it will trigger the rest of the Fishing quest. I’m not going to go on details here as the instructions are given in-game is pretty clear and also, it’s a game so you gotta play it, not read all about it here.
Fishing Rods and Lures
As you progress in your Fishing Quest, your Fishing Skill will increase. You’ll also be able to craft better fishing rods.
- Wooden Fishing Rod (Level 1)
- Iron Fishing Rod (Level 2)
- Fiberglass Fishing Rod (Level 3)
- Improved FG Fishing Rod (Level 4)
- Exquisite FG Fishing Rod (Level 5)
There are 4 types of lures and a trap available for you to craft:
- Metal Fish Lure: A generic lure made of metal that allows you to catch a wide variety of fish)
- Vegetable Fish Bait: A bait made from vegetables that attract herbivorous fish
- Meat Fish Bait: A bait made from meat to attract carnivorous fish
- Shrimp Bait: A bait made from live shrimp that attracts some carnivorous fish but it’s more appealing to get lobsters from the sea.
- Basic Fish Trap: This is used to generate your own Level 1 – 3 fishing points when thrown into the water.\
Auto-Fishing
Fishing can be time-consuming so luckily we have auto-fishing features. I’ll usually do auto-fishing in safe spots during downtime. The catch rate for auto-fishing will be much lower compared to manual Fishing because you may lose certain catches. There’s a daily limit of gathering mastery you’ll gain from auto-fishing.
To auto-fish, equip your fishing rod and lure, then cast the line as per usual. Once you’ve done it, tap on the icon in the right middle of your screen and you can just leave it at that. Auto-fishing will stop once you’re the durability of your fishing rod runs out, your baits/ lures run out, or when your backpack is full.
Fishing in Santopany
Santopany is the most ideal place to fish for a really diverse selection of fish. Apart from fishing, you can also choose to dive into the vast ocean and grab fishes that you come across underwater. Stay away from the jellyfish though!
Santopany, however, has occasional typhoons that will interrupt your fishing activity as your character will be “blown” from your position. In order to fish or auto-fish without all the disturbances, you need to be on a safe spot.
The safe spot to fish is at a cabin by the shore in Twin Islands. When you arrive in Santopany, you can head to the jetty in Saline Bay and take the yacht to Twin Islands as shown in the map below.
When you arrive in Twin Islands, you’ll notice a cabin which is the safest spot for you to do fishing. Head inside the cabin and you’ll see two open windows. There’s a postman readily available near the cabin next to the yacht so it’s super convenient for you to ship your catches back to camp.
